Okay, I want you to think very hard about what you just said.  You just called someone out for public shame that is happening right now, not hundreds of years ago.  So, yes, I know what cultures use public shame, and the correct answer is all of them.  It’s a common response to people breaking social mores and the like.  When someone gropes you in a public space and you shout at them, you are shaming them publicly.  But, hey, they deserve it.  Sometimes, people deserve to feel ashamed so that they can grow and learn that behavior like this is not acceptable.  Period.  There’s no call for posting this guy’s name or sharing his private information or making personal attacks, but none of those things are happening here.  The only thing that’s happening is that this man had his photograph taken and was accused in a public space of inappropriate behavior he was committing in public.  I’d say the punishment fits the crime perfectly here.

Like, who fucking cares if you post a picture on tumblr of some dude on a subway with a caption that may not even be true? Like really, you people are sheep.
For another, I really doubt this dude is ashamed.
